Za’atar is a delicious middle eastern spice blend that varies slightly depending where you live. ​This is our take on this fragrant and flavoursome spice blend.

It is a delicious blend but it isn’t so cost effective in stores. We have created a recipe that you can easily make at home for those days you want to add more spice to your meal. 

​​We particularly love this blend added to dukkah, added to foccacia dough before baking, sprinkled on potatoes or pumpkin prior to roasting and rubbed onto meat before grilling.

Thermomix Za’atar Spice Blend

Description

A delicious blend that isn’t so cost effective in stores. Make and gift a batch to your loved ones to use all year round! We love this added to dukkah, sprinkled on potatoes prior to roasting and rubbed onto meat before grilling.

Ingredients

  • salt – 1 Tbsp, rock
  • sesame seeds – 20g
  • dried thyme – 4 Tbsp
  • sumac – 7 Tbsp
  • dried marjoram – 3 Tbsp
  • dried oregano – 3 Tbsp
  • sesame seeds – 3 Tbsp, toasted

Instructions

  1. Add the rock salt (1 Tbsp) and sesame seeds (20g) to the bowl. Mill Speed 9 / 10 seconds.
  2. Add the dried thyme (4 Tbsp), sumac (7 Tbsp), dried marjoram (3 Tbsp), dried oregano (3 Tbsp) and toasted sesame seeds (3 Tbsp) to the bowl. Mix Reverse+Speed 4 / 4 seconds.
  3. Pour into small containers, tie with string and attach a label.
  4. Enjoy!

Cannot be frozen
