T4B032: Thermomix Smoothie Recipes

Jan 13, 2014

In Episode 32, we test drive four Thermomix smoothie recipes for you! We’re having ‘Smoothie Week’ this week across our social media channels so let us know what your favourite combos are!

Click on the play button at the top or download this in iTunes or on Stitcher Radio (and do not forget to leave a review – it really makes our day!)

Here are the recipes we chose this week:

Recipe 1Orange and Banana Smoothie (Seana at Sydney Kids, Food & Travel)

– simple to make and quite delicious! We halved this recipe and it made 300g, so it likely makes two average serves. You can also add berries into the bowl to change colour.

Recipe 2 – Pear Cashew Cream Green Smoothie (Carrie Brown)

– a unique dairy-free option! We also halved this recipe as Carrie’s recipes make a LOT! We didn’t roast our cashews (so lazy!) and used 115g each of coconut milk from a can and water to make the end product a bit thinner.

Recipe 3 – Choc-orange ‘jaffa’ Smoothie (Amy Crawford at The Holistic Ingredient)

– a bitter chocolatey indulgence… without the indulgence! This is also dairy-free and gives a delicious ‘dairy’ mouthfeel that the dairy-free folk will enjoy!

Recipe 4 – Berry Banana Oatmeal Smoothie (ChooTheFat’s Thermomix Adventures)

– get going in the morning with this all-in-one smoothie! The combo that we ended up using was 3/4 MC rolled oats, 1 MC frozen blueberries, 1 MC frozen raspberries, 1 banana, 2 MC milk + handful of ice. Blend 1min / Speed 9, scrape sides / lid down, blend another 1 min / Speed 9. You can definitely get creative with this one

Here are some cool tips from this podcast…

  • When recipes from the USA call for coconut milk, try and work out if they are referring to the milk from cans or a carton, as the carton milk is significantly thinner than Australian canned coconut milk – you may need to water it down!
  • Freeze leftover smoothie into ice blocks
  • Click here for the protein powder that we reference in this episode.
