Love Lemon Chicken? Want a Thermomix Lemon Chicken recipe?
I’ve got to be honest with you. I’ve not been a lover of lemon chicken. My mental image of lemon chicken is that of being in a Chinese restaurant and being served a plate of ‘chicken’ which was 95% batter with a tiny bit of chicken inside, covered in a highlighter yellow syrupy sauce. Ick. Not for me.
However, I felt that I could work with delicious citrus flavours and come up with a great method of lemon chicken that families would love. A version that doesn’t use too much sugar. A version that isn’t too tart. A version that is ‘just right’. Oh, and easy to make! That’s not too much to ask, is it? I don’t think so!
This Family Friendly Thermomix Lemon Chicken has a delicious lemon taste which is balanced out by a little apple juice. It has chicken and a good serving of vegetables and is cooked in a way that doesn’t completely drown the vegetables. We think it’s a great example of a Thermomix one pot wonder, so we featured it in Episode 95 of the podcast, along with three other delicious Thermomix one pot wonders.
Have a try of our version of lemon chicken and let us know what you think!

I wondered what this would be like but it is delicious. I think grown up and not sickly sweet. Super tasty and of course ready to make.
So good to hear, thanks for taking the time to let us know Gail!
Is ‘Steaming’ temperature Varoma??
It is Belinda 🙂
Looking forward to making this one. Did wonder what ‘green pieces’ were – last on ingredients list. I’m assuming green beans which are at the end of the recipe ?.
Love your podcasts guys! And the mag!! Keep up the awesome work.
HAHAHA Oh my goodness! Too funny! We’ve fixed that up. Thanks so much Lisa!
Made this with mandarin juice because I didn’t have apple & lemonade lemon juice and it was great. Used half rice malt syrup & half dextrose. Will definitely make it again.
unfortunately mine burnt on the bottom and the sauce was really unpleasant – i had to attempt to salvage dinner on the stove top as my mixing bowl is currently soaking it was so badly burnt on…. I just thought I would let you know, as I really thought it sounded so YUM and I am not sure what I did wrong!
Thank you so much for letting us know Mel. It sounds like something really went very wrong. Would you mind please sharing what machine you used? Thanks! Bec
I have just finished cooking my sauce and I have big burnt marks on the bottom on my bowl as well. Followed all the instructions properly. I have a TM5.
Hi Michelle
So sorry to hear that, there have been a couple of instances of that happening so we’ve gone back and tweaked to recipe to avoid any future troubles. Thanks so much for letting us know.
Yes, I must say, mine burnt too and although I added more sweeter (honey), it was still quite lemony – not sure if there was a little too much zest?
Shame as it did sound super yummy – not sure what else I need to tweak as I followed all steps and even added a small amount of water to make the sauce runnier ???
Hi Ebony, thanks so much for the feedback. We’re going to test the recipe out again this week. We’ll let you know what the outcome is.
Has anyone could this in the Bellini intelli? If so how did you change method if at all.
Hey Hey, we haven’t personally but I know there are some super duper bellini users in The 4 Blades Magazine facebook group. Maybe head on over and ask there. I’m sure there’s someone who has.
Can I use Stevia instead of zylitol and if so would I use the same quantity? Thanks!
Hi Gail
You sure can use stevia instead of xylitol. I don’t use stevia much. With xylitol we use it just like granulated sugar. I think you may want to put a touch more stevia in. Maybe 40-50g?
Thanks I’ll try that amount and see how it goes. Cheers
